Hopi Ear Candles
Candling is an ancient method developed by the Native American Indians
Hopi Tribe”. The ear candle have evolved from the use of fire, heat, smoke
and herbs, which all have healing qualities in their Own right. The Hopi used
rolled wax leaves infused with herbs as art of their spiritual ceremonies. Fire is considered to
be a clearing element to clear negative energy in a spiritual level. Smoke in a scented form
was used in medieval Europe to drive out evil spirits” most likely using the herb St. Johns
Wart. Today it is used in the treatment for depression.
Sage is one of the primary herbs used due to its cleansing and purifying properties. So the
candle treatment incorporates fire, heat, scented smoke as a connections to the physical
body.
How does ear candles work?
Being a hollow tube made from organic cotton, it is infused with St Johns Wart, honey,
camomile, lavender and sage. This is placed into the ear canal less than a centimetre, the
candle is lit. Whilst the candle burns down slowly (12 - 15 minutes) herbs are released into
the ear canal, setting up pressure waves and gently massaging the inner ear.
This helps to clear sinuses, ear pain, migraine, sore throats. Aided by a special filter in the
candle it also acts as a chimney effect creating a vacuum whereby ear wax / impurities are
extracted from the ear.
The experience in the individual having the treatment is a gentle sound like rain or fizzing
noise. No physical sensation or heat is felt in the eardrum during the treatment.
